NaNo Milestones

Yesterday, I passed two NaNo milestones that I thought were worth mentioning here.

First, I surpassed last year’s total word count of 241,142 words.  This year has been miles better than last year, at least as far as writing goes.  My stories have been mostly smoother, I’ve been more motivated to work on them, and I think they are higher quality, if only a little.

Secondly, I surpassed 1,000,000 words total for the past four NaNos combined.  It’s not a million in a year, but that’s not too shabby at all for four months of effort over four years.

And this year is not yet done.  I don’t know how much more I will write, but I would be happy with just finishing the first draft of my current novel.  Two first drafts in a month gives me a lot to work with next year, especially if I can push it to four for the year (I have another book close to finished).

We shall see!

Oh my gosh, this is amazing. That is some awesome word count you’ve got going there, Mr. Travis. I’m proud of you (if not a little bit jealous), and I ancourage you to go and not stop. I want to see you with two manuscripts in your hands at the end of the month, so that you too may celebrate your success in full! 🙂
