December Goals

Now that almost a week of the month has passed, it’s time to figure out what I want my goals for the month to be.  They will be rather not ambitious, I think.

I want to do more reading this month.  I’ve started one book already, but would like to read another 1-2 before the new year starts.  I think it’s doable, and reading is something that you’re supposed to do as a writer.

I want to work on/finish one particular short story (it should be under 10k, probably) that’s been on my mind for a while.  I started it early this year, but mostly ignored it, and it would be nice to get it done.

I also want to spellcheck all of the novels that I might work on as far as editing is concerned.  I have two completed novels this year (and another two half done), and could work on any of them (if I took January to finish either of the latter two).  But having them spellchecked would be nice.

And finally, and most importantly, I want to get something of a working program to help me keep track of all my goals for next year.  I have some ideas  as to how to do that, but I’m wanting to use it to learn Ruby on Rails, and that means it will be slower going.  I have time, certainly after my brother’s wedding this weekend, I just need the motivation.

If I were going to listen to the lessons from last month, I would have a reward tied to it as well, but I’m going to choose to ignore that out of laziness.
